Sphenoid bone
It is an odd bone that forms the centre of the base of the skull. It connects to the frontal bone and facial bones from the front, to the temporal bones on the side, and to the occipital bone in the back. The shape of the sphenoid bone resembles a butterfly, as it consists of a shaft, larger and smaller wings and winged processes.
