Sacrum
The sacral segment consists of five vertebrae (sometimes four to six). The vertebrae of this segment merge into a uniform sacrum with the age of the individual. When assessing the skeletal age, the degree of integration of this segment is taken into account. The sacral spine physiologically bends backwards (kyphosis sacralis).
