The shaft of this bone is triangular in shape. The lateral condyle is the attachment of the anterior tibial muscle (m. tibialis anterior), the long extensor muscle of the toes (m. extensor digitorum longus), and the peroneal longus muscle (m. fibularis sive peroneus longus). On the posterior surface of the shaft, in its upper part, there is an attachment for the popliteal muscle (m. popliteus) and soleus muscle (m. soleus). The posterior tibial muscle (m. tibialis posterior) and long flexor muscle of the fingers (m. flexor digitorum longus) are attached to the middle of the shaft. The tendon of the sartorius muscle (m. sartorius) is attached to the tibial tuberosity.
